St. Pius V Parish

Worship and Sacraments

Baptism

Please call the parish office at 312-226-6161 at least six weeks before the proposed date of baptism. Children from birth up to six years of age can be baptized without previous catechetical preparation. Parents and godparents must participate in two preparation workshops and an interview with one of our priests.

Children six to 12 years old should participate in our year-long religious education program in order to be baptized at the Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday evening).

First Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation

Children six to 12 years old should participate in our year-long religious education program in order to take part in these Sacraments at the Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday evening).

Weddings

To initiate the process, call our parish office at 312-226-6161 to get information about available dates. To allow adequate time for the preparation process, weddings should be scheduled at least six months in advance.

Religious Education

We prepare young adults between 13 and 18 years of age to receive confirmation and to be youth leaders.

We also offer religious education and sacramental preparation through our parish's SPRED program for special needs children.

Parents can also participate with their children in religious education classes to learn more about their Catholic faith. After receiving sacraments everybody can continue to learn more about our faith.

Registration takes place in August and September.

RICA – Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.

Adults that have not yet received baptism, communion, confirmation or reconciliation can learn about their Catholic faith during these Sunday classes. Participants prepare to receive sacraments at the Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday) liturgy. They will receive formation in their faith community and will learn how to follow Christ faithfully.

Quinceañeras

Persons that wish to celebrate their 15th birthday at St. Pius V need to register six months in advance and participate in a preparation workshop. Call the parish office at 312-226-6161 to register or for more information.
