Parish Ministry in a Hispanic Community is a book written by St. Pius V's former pastor and current associate pastor, Charles W. Dahm, OP. Published in 2004 by Paulist Press, the book tells the story of St. Pius V and how the ministries and pastoral services developed during Fr. Chuck's time at the parish.
Sen. Durbin and the Greater Chicago Food Depository visit Casa Juan Diego
Promoting good nutrition for children and their Kids Cafe program, the Greater Chicago Food Depository brought U.S. Senator Dick Durbin to Casa Juan Diego on Friday, August 7, 2009.
Sen. Durbin toured the youth center, served lunch and encouraged the children to make healthy eating choices.
St. Pius V Parish Supports Immigration Rally in Washington, D.C.
Two bus-loads of St. Pius V community members joined tens of thousands of other supporters of immigration reform at a rally in Washington, D.C., on March 21.

Thousands March for an End to Deportations and Reform of Immigration Laws
Parishioners and friends of St. Pius V took part in the May 1 march from Union Park on Chicago's west side to Daley Plaza for a rally in support of comprehensive immigration reform and an end to the separation of families through deportation.
Religious Leaders Protest Arizona's Immigration Law
Fr. Brendan joined other religious leaders - including Christian, Jewish and Muslim representatives - at a May 12 press conference to protest impending legislation in Arizona that will lead to racial profiling and harassment of people based on physical appearance.

The local news website Adentro de Pilsen included a recent article about St. Pius V's H.O.P.E. domestic violence program. Fr. Chuck is interviewed and gives a brief history and description of this important ministry.
St. Pius V's SPRED Program in Chicago Catolico
The Spanish-language newspaper of the Archdiocese of Chicago shared the story of SPRED, a network of services for persons with developmental disabilities that started locally and has grown internationally.
The article highlights St. Pius V's large Spanish-language SPRED program and its parish coordinator, Armando Cuaya. Armando also has helped SPRED on an organizational level by translating materials into Spanish.
Parish Renovates School Gathering Space
As part of a larger plan to continue improving our parish facilities, we took on the gathering space and play area between the two school buildings. The work crew removed the cracked and warped asphalt, installed new drainage and put down a smooth new surface.
The area is used for school dropoff and pick up, recess time, the parish street festival and other activities.
