The sixth annual St. Pius V Parish Celebrating the Harvest awards
banquet is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2013. This event honors
community leaders who share and promote the parish’s mission of service
and raises funds to continue critical outreach to those in the Pilsen
neighborhood and beyond.

The theme this year is Celebrating the Harvest: Transforming Lives.

Among the honorees is Illinois Senate President John J. Cullerton, who
will be recognized for his historic leadership in passing drivers’
licenses for immigrants in Illinois this year. Senator Cullerton will
join us in celebrating St. Pius V Parish’s outreach at the annual
banquet.

Can you imagine what Pilsen would look like if suddenly St. Pius V
Church and School, Casa Juan Diego Youth Center, and the nationally
acclaimed domestic violence and prevention program at St. Pius V
disappeared? It's hard to imagine!

Who would be there to support our youth, families, and most vulnerable
community members? Who would be there to speak out on the issues that
affect the lives of the poor and marginalized in our neighborhood?

This year the parish has gained national recognition for its local
impact. Last December St. Pius V received the first ever “Halo Award.”
The details of the award are attached below, but this is what you need to know:
St. Pius V makes a tremendous impact for good in Pilsen. Every dollar of
the St. Pius V budget has a $7.50 impact on the community.

St. Pius V’s $2 million dollar annual budget produces $15 million
dollars’ value for the neighborhood and the city. That’s $15 million
worth of priceless safety and education for children, healthier, happier
couples and families, stronger community leaders, and safer streets.
For every dollar invested, St. Pius V returns $7.50 in value to the
people of Chicago. This means a $5,000 Celebrating the Harvest
sponsorship becomes $37,000.00 in impact for the good of Pilsen.
